Broncos erase 16-point deficit to beat Rams 30-26

The Denver Broncos rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 in Denver on Sunday night, according to a post on X by the NFL [1] and a report by The Associated Press published via ESPN [5].

According to the AP, the Rams led 16-0 at halftime, and Denver went three-and-out to start the second half before rallying. Quarterback Bo Nix threw two touchdown passes and completed two 2-point conversion throws to tie the game in the second half, the AP reported.

Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga had a decisive night, recording a sack, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit, three pass breakups and two interceptions, according to the AP. The NFL, in posts on X, highlighted Hufanga's sack, a 66-yard pick-six and a game-winning interception [2]. The pick-six, with 4:49 left, gave Denver its first lead of the game at 23-19, the AP reported.

"I actually had to have a pep talk with myself" after dropping two earlier interceptions, Hufanga said, according to the AP. Hufanga also described breaking away from Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford on the return: "To be honest, Matt Stafford is a lot faster than you think. I might be slow, but he's fast. I'll give him his credit because I had to cut back on that play."

The Rams answered with a touchdown pass from Stafford to Konata Mumpfield to retake a 26-23 lead, but Nix then drove Denver 65 yards before scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 47 seconds left on a keeper from inches outside the goal line, the AP reported. Nix said, according to the AP: "In the huddle we feel a lot of belief that we've been there before and we have what it takes to go down against a really good defense and score points."

Stafford drove the Rams to Denver's 14-yard line in the final seconds, but Hufanga secured a second interception in the end zone to seal the win, the AP reported. Broncos coach Sean Payton called it "obviously a gutsy win," while Stafford said, "it's a tough one," according to the AP. The Rams, described by the AP as preseason favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, have now lost two of their first three games. The Broncos improved to 2-1 and next play at San Francisco, while the Rams fell to 1-2 and next play at Philadelphia, according to the AP.
