The Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-24 on Thursday night when kicker Andre Szmyt made a career-long 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds remaining. The win moved Cleveland to 3-1, and Pittsburgh dropped to 2-2.[1]

According to The Associated Press, it is the first time the Browns have been 3-1 since 2001. It was also quarterback Deshaun Watson's third straight week leading a go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter.[2]

Watson finished 24 of 33 for 268 yards with one touchdown and one interception, the box score shows. Running back Quinshon Judkins carried 17 times for 53 yards and a touchdown, and receiver Denzel Boston caught four passes for 89 yards.[1] The AP reported that Watson went 4 for 5 for 46 yards on the winning drive. A 4-yard sack with 19 seconds left pushed Cleveland back, but Szmyt still made the kick down the middle, according to the AP. It extended his streak of made field goals to 22.[2]

For Pittsburgh, Rodgers was 22 of 40 for 299 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Receiver DK Metcalf had five catches for 115 yards, and running back Jaylen Warren rushed for 93 yards on 17 carries. T.J. Watt led the Steelers with 1 sack.[1] The AP reported that Rodgers threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth with 1:44 left and ran in the 2-point conversion to tie the game at 24-24.[2]

The AP said the game turned early in the second quarter. Pittsburgh led 7-0 after the first quarter. Denzel Ward then intercepted Rodgers on the second play of the second quarter. Cleveland scored three touchdowns before halftime for a 21-7 lead.[2] The box score shows the Browns scored 21 points in the quarter.[1] "Denzel flipped it, and then we kind of got things going a little bit, got in a good rhythm," Browns coach Todd Monken said, according to the AP.[2]

The Browns defense sacked Rodgers five times and hit the quarterback 10 times, the AP reported. Steelers coach Mike McCarthy said, "we were one play short." Rodgers' final Hail Mary attempt was intercepted by Grant Delpit at the Cleveland 18 with 1 second left.[2]

The AP reported that Steelers defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (foot) and cornerback Jamel Dean (ankle) left the game and did not return. Browns defensive tackle Mason Graham (left knee) also did not return. Both teams play Oct. 11. Pittsburgh hosts Indianapolis, and Cleveland visits the New York Jets.[2]
