The Federal Trade Commission said it is sending more than $100,000 in refund payments to consumers it described as deceived by GOAT, an online marketplace for sneakers, apparel and accessories. The agency announced the payments in a post on X and a press release dated Oct. 6. [1][2]

The payments come from a settlement over allegations that GOAT did not honor its refund policies and violated an FTC rule requiring reasonable shipping practices, the FTC said. [2]

In a 2024 complaint, the FTC alleged that GOAT failed to ship some priority processing orders as quickly as promised. It also alleged that GOAT did not give buyers the choice to accept the delay or cancel the order and get a prompt refund, as the agency's Mail, Internet or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule requires. [2]

The FTC also alleged that GOAT offered a "Buyer Protection" policy but had no system to honor it. According to the agency, GOAT promised full refunds for products that were inauthentic, incorrect or not as described, but often denied the requests, gave only partial refunds or issued in-store credits. [2]

In 2025, GOAT directly refunded more than $736,000 to affected customers under the settlement, the FTC said. The agency is now sending checks or PayPal payments to 6,205 customers who had not yet received money. [2]

Most recipients will get a check by mail and should cash it within 90 days, the FTC said. PayPal recipients should redeem their payments within 30 days. Questions can go to the refund administrator, JND Legal Administration, at 1-888-970-2410. [2]

The FTC said it never requires people to pay money or provide account information to receive a payment. [2]
