Alec Bohm hit a two-out home run in the 10th inning off Atlanta right-hander Didier Fuentes, according to The Associated Press. The AP described it as a 357-foot shot to right field and the third postseason homer of Bohm's career. Fuentes (0-1) took the loss. [2]

Philadelphia trailed 3-1 in the seventh inning. Schwarber and Harper then hit back-to-back home runs off Braves reliever Dylan Lee in the eighth, which tied the game at 3-3. The AP reported Schwarber's drive traveled 447 feet and Harper's 418 feet. [1][2]

Andrew Painter (1-0), a starter during the regular season, pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the win, the AP said. The AP reported that Painter ended the game by striking out Dominic Smith on a pitch that was called a ball. Painter and catcher J.T. Realmuto challenged the call, and the automated strike zone system confirmed the pitch clipped the zone. The AP said it was the first postseason game to end on a strike-zone challenge. [2]

The AP said Harper's homer made up for a crucial fielding mistake an inning earlier. In the seventh, a double by Drake Baldwin glanced off Harper's glove in right field and drove in Sean Murphy to put Atlanta up 2-1. Harper was not charged with an error. Matt Olson added a sacrifice fly. Harper said, “Obviously a ball I should have caught.” [2]

Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez allowed three runs in 6 2/3 innings and threw a career-high 116 pitches, according to the AP. Braves starter Tyler Mahle allowed one run on six hits in seven innings. Braves manager Walt Weiss told the AP that Mahle felt an abdominal pull during pregame warmups and the team did not know if Mahle could start. Weiss said Mahle worked through it. [2]

Braves right-hander Grant Holmes is expected to start or pitch in bulk relief in Game 3 against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola, the AP reported. Atlanta won the opener 5-3 on Tuesday. The Braves finished the regular season 94-68 and the Phillies 88-74. [1][2]
